Did You know?

The term 'ergonomics' was first coined in 1949 by a British scientist named Murrell L. Barrington. It comes from the Greek words 'ergon' (meaning work) and 'nomos' (meaning natural law).

Sitting for too long is now the new smoking.

Workplace ergonomics isn't just about physical health - it can also affect your mental well-being.

Workplace injury is one of the most common injuries.

Workplace Ergonomics Tips

In today's fast-paced world, most of us spend a significant amount of time sitting at our desks. While this may seem like a harmless activity, prolonged sitting can put a lot of stress on our bodies and lead to various health issues like lower back pain and other musculoskeletal disorders. This is where workplace ergonomics comes in.

Ergonomics refers to the science of designing the workplace to fit the needs of employees. It aims to reduce the risk of injuries and illnesses by making the workplace more comfortable and efficient. This not only benefits the employees but also the employers, as employees are healthy and more productive at their work, which will reflect positively on the company’s performance..

Adjust your chair and desk: Make sure your chair and desk are at the right height and distance from each other. Your feet should be flat on the floor, and your arms should be at a 90-degree angle when typing.

Take regular breaks: Sitting for prolonged periods can cause stiffness and pain in your neck, shoulders, and back. Taking short breaks every 30 minutes or so can help you stretch your muscles and improve blood flow.

Use proper lighting:: Poor lighting can cause eye strain, headaches, and fatigue. Make sure your workspace is well-lit, and use task lighting if necessary

Invest in ergonomic equipment: Consider investing in an ergonomic keyboard, mouse, or standing desk to reduce strain on your wrists, arms, and back.

Stay active: Incorporate physical activity into your workday. Take a walk during your lunch break, use the stairs instead of the elevator, or do some stretches at your desk.
